Yes reading signs and following them as a truck driver is important. However there's idiots driving that stretch of I70 that were born in the U.S. and just plain avoid reading and following signs. How do you prevent that one?

In columbia campus, there is a wing for the "Transitional" for the "Trainable". (*A old word)

Their IQ's are in the range of 60 and below. So many rules with interacting with them as children when our side of the school goes to their wing to visit and play. For morale purposes for them. Some of the lower functioning kids operate on instinct in terms of touching and acting on urges and emotion more than anything. You operate with very good staff oversight, even as you play with them a game of dodgeball etc. Once they get the idea of the game they become single minded beserkers slaughtering us kids. Take ball. Hit that person in blue shirt team. Win.

Blue shirt team runs around in circles trying to organize while slow team makes one kill after another. Poof win.

    Simple.

I run about a Iq of 134 but frankly most of it goes to waste in life. I try my best to enjoy each day in some way and not let the demands of the adults for make work rot me from within.

Those are the ones who require careful supervision all life. You and I by comparison are outrageously freedom. We marry, sire children, spoil grandkids, buy homes and property etc. Do whatever we think we want in life.

They don't get to do anything without either a yes or no. Combined with stop that. Every moment.

IF that was me, shoot me. That's not living.

And you know what? When it is a beautiful morning in the springtime, they smile and are happy. They don't have much but they understand the glory of living when all is well today. More than we do when we whine and ##### over a busted coffee pot.

IQ test would mean nothing, you can be a genius and have noooo common sense, and sens is what is needed to herd a truck around the country.

It’s not just about road signs.
All BOL’s are in English. All MSDS are in English. Along with regulations and instructions.
Every tanker and most other trailers all have warnings, labels in English.

If an IQ test becomes part of the requirements to obtain a CDL, I would guess we really will have a driver shortage.
