Done it once. Nothing came of it, was he silver springs scale house on 495. Traffic just would not let me over for over a mile. Started swinging in, they wouldn't move.

Not a whole lot I could do but just keep moving.

Missed one a looong time ago in Indiana on I65S coming down off 80. Pouring rain and heavy traffic and I was in the wrong lane and couldn't get over fast enough; I watched helplessly as I bypassed the (very busy) scale house. I pulled into the Pilot at the next exit and called the scale house and explained what happened and where I was and I was a new driver and what did I have to do to fix this, I could go right back or wait for -- that was when the guy cut me off in an amused sounding voice and told me he would recall the unit he had sent after me and to simply not do that again. Haven't missed one in the 9 years since.

I would sometimes blow by the coops on I-95 south bound in VA, forget the area/city it is called (just past the DC area?). The on ramp would have trucks parked all the way onto I-95, really making it dangerous. I gotta say to, I wasn't the only one going on by, dozens of us were each time. Now when that scale was open, and no line of trucks on the shoulder/highway, then yes of course, I would pull in. I never, ever saw any of the VA DOT come after anyone either.

I never did but my trainer from Prime did, lol. He pulled off the next exit and waited for the officer to show up.But because Roger had his logs and paperwork ready the officer let him go with a warning.

My first local job I have to cross hwy 41 in Illinois by using rt 173. There was a scale sign saying truck must enter if open. Since the scale was on 41 and I was on 173 just passing by, I thought I didn't have too. Did it many times in that route until I saw another truck do it and got pulled over. Now I always go but all the weigh master do is jam on the green light no matter if I was loaded or mt

If you have PrePass and get a green you can keep going. If you get a red or no signal you have to pull in, unless the sign says closed. I have gotten a red once when the sign said closed and kept going. Sometimes the signal doesn't come through the transponder correctly.

I missed the one on I84 WB coming into ID once. Got chased down by a very angry DOT guy. He yelled at me for awhile, looked at the CAT sale ticket I had from when I left Ogden and told me not to do it again and left. I haven't missed one since. But...

About 2 years later after running overnight I had a student miss one in SD while I was in the bunk catching some shuteye (last load of his 6 weeks training period). The trooper at the scale chased us down, did a Level 2 roadside (no other violations) and left us BOTH with a written warning with "local enforcement" listed as the violation. I've been answering questions about that one ever since.

Blow by that one all the time. Only time I pull in is when they are closed to either drain water or hit the sleeper.
