I like to make all my communication crystal clear. That's why I make the drawings in the first place. I imagine that most truck drivers would just write out a description of the situation without drawing a picture. Also, I just edited the OP to just describe it as a blue tractor-trailer.
Could you clarify your answer to the question of the OP for me?
When making a left-hand turn, have you ever deliberately pulled out into the street knowing (knowing before you even press on the accelerator pedal) that you are going to stop in the middle of the street and block traffic from the left? -
Never done that.Don’t know if it is a good idea or not. I personally wouldn’t want to be the reason someone rear ended someone else because I decided to control traffic I think some are really just get in panic mode when they think they have sit at a stop sign to long .I’ve been doing this a long time and have never been in a situation where I sat at a stop sign all day.

Thank you for the answer. Since you created your account in 2010, I suppose you've probably been trucking at least since 2010. If so, wow, fourteen years without ever having to pull out into the street and block traffic!
I created this thread because I wonder whose experience is more typical, yours or mine on this.
I only pull out into the street and block traffic as a last resort. Have you ever been trying to make a left-hand turn and eventually gave up on getting clear from both the right and left and just made a right-hand turn instead? I suppose you have probably decided to make a right hand turn instead of a left-hand turn (even though you need to go to the left) before if you have never pulled out in the middle of the street and stopped like I do about once per year. -
Ok thank you for your response. It's good to see that I'm not the only truck driver that has done this.
Please respond to my other thread "Have you ever deliberately stopped in the middle of the street to make a left-hand turn?"austinmike Thanks this. -
So you have never done this yourself. I have another question. Have you ever seen another truck driver go out in the middle of the street and stop and deliberately block traffic from the left to make a left-hand turn before?
-
Honestly I feel like I have again I personally dont know if it’s good or bad I do understand the point.I’ve just never done it.expedite_it Thanks this.
-
No. Stop stopping in the road because you’re impatient. Dingus.

In the late 90’s when I started driving maybe I would’ve thought about it. In this day and age I wouldn’t even entertain the thought. All it would take is one person with their head in their phone to slam into stopped traffic and guess who would be on the hook for that.
Bud A., kylefitzy and expedite_it Thank this. -
Not only stopped, but I've jumped out and directed traffic, employed the assistance of passers by, police, pilot cars, and state troopers to make 'stuff' happen.
