No, I'm happy where I'm at. Asking for a friend that isn't internet savvy.

She's 50 years old but would like to work for fed ex but is concerned she's not strong enough to hook up doubles by herself.

Winters can be tough. Ice and snow makes manhandling the dollies tough. Most drivers will help one another, though.

I'm no muscle woman and the first few weeks reminded me of how few muscles holding a steering wheel takes. You do get used to it. But if she isn't used to it she should be very careful not to injure herself while she's getting used to it.

Some companies must have old crappy dollies I guess. One of my friends worked for a company that did doubles. He had problems because of his hernia within 3 weeks.

I've known quite a few women drivers that deal with doubles. It is all a matter of what job a person wants to do.

I'm of the mind if a person wants to experiment and have 10 jobs in one year, good for them. Why would it be anyone else business what someone else does? Truck drivers these days always driving somebody elses truck instead of just driving their own.

Good for her taking shot at getting some experience.

Experience. That's a good thing sometimes, depending on what the "experience" is....

IDK, I just think there are easier trucking jobs out there. In all my years, I never wanted to do that, schleping some POS dolly in the dark or pouring rain, ( or worse, snow and ice) getting out 5 times to line everything up, and not really getting paid anymore to do that. I guess it's so weird for me to think about doing that, when for 35 years, I backed under a wagon, hooked up the lines, cranked the legs up, kicked the tires, and took off. She can do what she wants, but it always just seemed like a major hassle to me.
