But to answer yes. There's a woman that runs pups out of the Birmingham dollar general and that's all she does. Pud job. Totally jelly.

 

A dolly weighs aprox 3200 lbs,im 6'3'' 200 + and in the snow and ice it It can be a PITA.Sometimes alot of cursing and aggravation.You need to get in a groove and always do a tug test and visually inspect each 5th wheel,Always.Dolly maitinance is practially non existant and they do get beat up pretty bad.Also doubles equal double the probs,2 traiers and all that.If I have a prob ill ask for help and vice versa.Its not bad once you get used to it.Just make sure your tractor has a pintle hook or your gonna have to back up the dolly hooked to your lead.

Come on driver your getting soft in your old age. Truck driving is supposed to be dirty hard work where we drip 2 cups of sweat out before breakfast.

Tell you what used to spook me. Doing bobtail in the snow and ice in pre 80's Pete, autocar or white commode. I never could get that perfect balance of brake adjustment that prevented the tandems from being the lead part of the truck when I stopped.

I drove for sailboat before fed ex bought them out. We ran hard in our trucks and never had the issues that fed ex has with staying upright.

 

Wife and I did doubles at R&L Carriers. My wife knew how to hook up the doubles but I would do it for her. That stuff can sometimes be a dirty job. I like keeping my wife clean and pretty. She would cheer me on but most of the time tell me to "hurry the #### up !" LOL

 

I do it every day. its not that hard unless you're on a slight hill, then just flag a yard dog down or have another driver come over and give you a hand.

 

Unless it is your first week pulling doubles, if you have to get out more than once, you are doing it wrong.
