Ok, first picture from a ways off, showing the relative positions of bobtail parking, the parking isle I was on, and the fuel lanes.

Second image. How are today's trucks parked.

Note that both trucks have compromised on where the back of their trailers are. 20210430_204725.jpg

Jesus. They're trying to milk that lot for all it's worth. Reminds me of that guy trying to sell that 5 acre plot, claiming you could fit 300 trucks and a Speedco.

Now, let's look at the front of the truck that is parked facing the bobtail row, as I was yesterday. I am intentionally NOT showing DOT / truck numbers.

Note he is several feet forward of the end of his parking spot, AND if you look at the prior post image, he is also several feet over the line on his passenger side.

    Why’s the back line diagonal?

The spaces are too short..... period.

Here is an image of bobtail row, with the front corner panel of the truck from before visible.

Here is an image of the travel lane between bobtail row and the row I was parked in last night. It's not terrible, but most of the trucks are parked at or behind the lines defining the full sized truck parking.

Now, again, that bobtail row has not always been there. It is fairly new. Before the bobtail lane was added, I would have happily pulled forward several feet to make the driver behind me happy.

With that row of bobtail in front of me, if I had pulled forward into the travel lane, it would have put my truck at risk, due to how tight the lane would have become.

A very good driver might have gotten around me with little problem to park or leave a parking space, but I am not worried about very good drivers. I didn't even have much concern about getting out, since I was taking a 34.

But blind side herringbone parking is not the easiest parking for inexperienced drivers. I still don't like doing it.

I was in the second spot in, the spot next to the grey truck at the end in today's pictures. Nobody was parked there when I took images.

I like my mirrors and fenders attached to my truck, thanks.
