Exit plan

    What is the best way to execute an exit from a very large company that will probably try to burn you in the end if you give a notice to leave? What is a good Exit Plan? Something that wouldn't look bad on my DAC for instance.

    I've always been served well by providing adequate notice and a short and sweet note to my manager. When they go low, you go high.

    Record everything possible get names and if anything is later found defamatory find attorney to file suit for lible.

    You could get a big settlement from it. I have done it before

    Exit plan: Have your next job lined up and ready to start. Carry the bare minimum gear in your truck and have it bundled up and ready to go. Have travel arrangements already set. When you pull the trigger, you may not have time to set up any fall back plans.

    The company won't even remember you a day later.
    Find a new job and set up an orientation date, then quit your current company.
    Couple of times I didn't even have a new job lined up and quit anyway. Trucking jobs are a dime a dozen.
    I never left a company and had any smart aleck remarks to anyone on my way out the door.
    Clean the truck out, go inside the office and turn in my keys and go home. You don't owe anyone an explanation because it's your life you're caring for.
    * Don't get caught up in the "small, mom & pop companies are better" rumor, because they can be worse than what you're leaving.

    It depends on you if they would put you in a bad spot get job lined up, then bring truck to yard shortly afterwards 2 week notice goes sour sometimes and can cost you your new job. I never had a problem quitting when I had enough. I would caution some companies will route you far out and they will let you sit it out or plain old fire you. Do whats best for you and you family.

    Don't work for dac companies and no one will even care about your dac.

    The number of companies that use dac. Is small. Compared to the number that don't use dac.

    You can also take your vacation time if you have some. Then go to new job and orientation. Then call when and say you quit when everything looks good. Trucking is not like regular job were the really need two week notice or even care..

    If anyone ask why quiting say home time was not what you expected. You can say they keep you out 3 month at a time. Because it can't be checked. I would not say bad things about old job because the new job may see that as complaining to much. Unless you really know all the details of the new job.

    If you offer a calm, non-insulting letter of resignation with two weeks notice, it would be highly unlikely that anyone would give you a hard time.

    If you offer insults, attacks, or simply say 'Your company sucks. I give two weeks notice, effective today.' Then you might raise some hackles and burn some bridges.

    TLDR: Be professional. Say something good about someone or something at the company, say nothing bad, and give two week's notice.
