My son has autism. For a long time I was in denial that he had it. Then I went through a phase where I blamed everyone and everything in his environment for it. People have always said that I was 'quirky', they were being nice, but I believe now that I may have Asperger's or some other undiagnosed disorder (a word I hate by the way).

Looks like everyone answered the getting lost question.

I don't like being around people too much anyway so loneliness is a plus with trucking for me.

i have alot of respect for the OP to stand up and make a life for himself and not have to rely on other to pay his way. i've followed some of his other threads and know how hard its been for him but he keeps plugging away. why don't you grow up and be a man and help him if you can. otherwise just get lost.

I am glad to see the directions question asked. I don't like GPS systems personally and when I get out there I really want to try to get used to using the atlas. While it isn't nearly the same, I delivered pizzas and just took a look at the local map and headed out. It really helps to know how roads and highways are numbered and how they progress. Learning the system and order of things made finding addresses extremely easy for me. If your training doesn't have it, I highly suggest you take some sort of map reading class or tutorial.

I'll admit my current cowrkers do not bother me with the exception of one guy who thinks hes all that. My franchise onwer is grooming him to take over this store and I told him if that happens, he has my two weeks. He hangs out with employees known to do drugs and my boss just laughs when I tell him this. Also, he treats me sorta rude with the way he talks to me. My boss will do nothing. So why not start this thread and get prepared for my dream hopefully someone nice will want me to train and drive for them.

The Challenger, i think that you'll be alright. in this business of trucking, you have to have a strong skin, what dude6710 was telling you is nothing compared what goes on in the shippers or consignee's! if you give it your all, you will be succesfull. Like you said, you are ahead of any rookie! you have been in this Forum since 2007. There is no such thing as a dumb question buddy. Keep us posted on realizing your trucking dream.

I am sure everyone can agree I'm not about to make a stupid move. My parents do not believe I can drive but I feel I can if I have the right trainer and boss. I believe it can be done and I pray everyday for that someone and company to be in my life.

dptrucker, truckon and scottied67 Thank this.
