Tips on passing test? What kind of truck are you testing with? Practice more until you are thoroughly comfortable maneuvering the truck. Remember your pre trip verbatim. Also don't panic when you take the test. Just relax and think it through.

They knew the day of the test.... but you're 1000% correct.. most drivers do the air brake test for the last time, the day they get their CDL. The worst part of the pre-trip is and always has been the "in cab" air brake test. Adults under stress just have a lot of problems focusing and remembering things sometimes. It's normal.. but it too shall pass.

I failed cause I built my air pressure up to the governor cut off range of 120-140 psi before checking for my low air pressure warning light and buzzer check, like wtf. I flushed it down to 60 psi and they came on and I continued to flushed down to 40 psi and both brakes engaged so why did I fail

It’s a 3 step process from the 120psi cutoff. 1) applied pressure test - 3 and 4psi, then 2) pump down to the 60 psi warning, then 3) pump down to the spring brakes pop at 45 to 25.

    Did you do all three?

I know this thread is old, but I LOVE the OP’s rationale.

“Hey, all the other truckers are stupid! Why can’t I be?!”

    lol
