I try to tell people this...and more. Problem is drivers fall for the informercial style scheme and get sucked right in. The drivers dont listen. The become impulsive and will sign a fleece purchase soon as someone jingles a set of truck keys in front of them.

people still don't get that they are paying the company bills and leaving probably 10 bucks in top of what a company driver to make you feel special when they are giving it to you without lube, smart person will open a company and put they leased truck under the company so at the end of the year they can deduct the lease payments from they taxes aka "welfare mobile leased to western express"

    Lots of misinformation here.

Despite moglars "facts", you do have rights. They can not take the truck whenever they want, it's all in your contract.

Moglars claim of "no path to ownership" is patently false. I'm walking poof of that as I just recently paid mine off.

Ruckie's statement is also not completely true as ANYONE, not just a company, can and should claim the lease payment as a deduction.

Bigred81 is partially correct as lots of bottom feeder companies pawn off their junk trucks to l/p'ers. Many companies lease out brand new trucks for a fair price so do your research!

The simple fact is some leases are a complete fraud and designed for you to fail while others are totally above board and legit. Its up to the individual to due PROPER due diligence.

But, but ... you're not proof. Unbeknownst to you, you were the shill. The plant to show succes is attainable, while executing a highly complex scheme of scamming everyone else.

I love it when MOGLAR claims not to be a troll. His post history proves otherwise. He is just someone who feels he is never at fault when he fails. I myself have completed a lease with a dry van mega, and am currently enjoying a lease with ATS. I go home when I want, and unlike what others claim in this thread, I make a good deal more than a company driver. The trick is to drive smarter, not harder.

Best of luck in your endeavors OP.

Just like any other business, except you might have to work a little harder. first off you have to Have a business plan, and stick with it. Everybody complains about home time. If you can't stay away from home for at least 6 weeks, stop reading right now. I have owned a bar, and a restaurant , And if you don't think that takes you away from you family, look again. You Have a rent/lease payment, insurance, maintenance, employees. Those owners that you see standing around greeting customers, have been there for years. Do your homework, find out you costs. Have enough cash on hand, to take care of surprises. Basically, don't go into a lease/purchase BROKE. If you do you are defeated already. That is where the honey gets thick, no money down, no payments for 4 weeks. It is a trap. The good thing about lease/purchase is, when you decide to quit, you can walk away. Any money you have coming, will have deductions for back repair bills, and damage. When you decide to quit, have enough money in your bank account to live on fora few months.
    Points.
1.Have a business plan, stick to it
2.Have enough cash on hand to carry you until you get established
    3.Don't get old
    HAVE BUSINESS INTERRUPTION INSURANCE.
