Well.. didn't get 300 miles down the road last night before the first light came on " impaired power train function", gee who could've seen that coming?!!... it went off as fast as it came on. 200 miles into the day today, same warning with a engine shutdown warning right after, they both cleared immediately, but after that one the amber code light stays on. Got parked, turned off power switch hoping that'd cleared anything, after a few minutes turned power back on and fired up, amber code light stays on, but no more warning lights YET!!!.. I figure it's a sensor, connector or wire loose or broken/not hooked up after having tranny out... funny how it never did this before they "fixed" it....fingers crossed I just make it back to NE at this point.

If the problem corrected itself. Cycle the key 5 times and it should go out.

Don’t think that’ll work for me. But I did get a cheap scan tool from harbor freight. Well worth it if you have a newer truck

GM still made quality trucks in ‘04. It would last longer than anything they put out today.

    IH9300SBA and bzinger Thank this.

I picked up a new work truck last week you might like ( sold the 95 silverado and still have my pristine 2013 ) ...its a 2004 f150 lariat I grabbed for 2400.00 bucks , little rusty but all new tires , new brakes and tranny....has the dreaded 5.4 3 valve but has great oil pressure and quite.
It's the black one you see coming into the cb yard .
