Personally I’d stop in Barstow. Hesperia is a bit of a hole, however you can do much worse. Regardless it’s around New Years so both places probably won’t be slammed.

Ya know why the cb terminal is a concrete contractors dream ?
Back in the day hwy 92 thru there was a skinny 2 lane road with mud shoulders over to what was known as the south omaha bridge that was built in the early 1900s over the Missouri River and it was no joy to cross in a truck either !
That whole area near our yard was very ghetto from south expressway over to the river and was a dumping ground for stolen burned out cars , illegal dumping and the occasional corpse .
When iowa dot and the city of cb widened that road and redeveloped the area into what it is now .. and built a new bridge part of the deal for that area was no gravel or dirt lots for anything new going in ...the existing businesses like Nebraska coast to the east and that old motel were allowed to remain gravel but anything new was required to be paved or concrete.
That's how we got what we have in CB .

To be fair, almost every place in that part of the country is a bit of a hole. If for nothing else just due to the amount of trash blowing around everywhere. I prefer Hespera simply due to the GIANT parking lot, and very little of it is paid. I almost always end up parked somewhere in that first two rows by the Outpost. Most of the time, I uber/lyft over to Enterprise in Victorville and just go explore. Oddly enough, I usually end up around Long Beach, San Clemente, or Big Bear. One time, I took the Pacific Coast Highway all the way from San Clemente up to Big Sur. It's a bit of a trip, but very nice scenery.

    Hey @runningman0661

What’s the name of both that hole in the wall bar and the burger joint in CB you were suggesting? I might have the bar confused with the hotel you stayed at during a truck repair.

    Friend and runningman0661 Thank this.

The food there wasn't bad last time I stopped there reasonably priced as well. The parking lot could be repaved.

Doozie's. About 3/4 of a mile from the yard. Right side of the road

For the burger joint at least

I was in there Thursday. The only redeeming thing about delivering there is the huge parking and restaurant at the Sapp Bros. at the end of the driveway.

Thankfully, most if not all Walmart/Sams DC’s we deliver to are drop and hooks. Still no fun when you need to grab an empty out of a mud pit though. I almost got stuck trying to pull out, and probably would have had I not flipped the inter-axle lock on or whatever it’s called.
