I hope this is where and how I'm supposed to post rather than the create a new thread option.
I've been approved by FCC except for my current company verification, which they're about to do, so I don't have an orientation date. Planning on running the SW regional. Was hoping the group could answer a few questions.
How long is orientation and what is the itinerary?
Are toll roads to be avoided or do they give us a transponder and let us go?
To what degree do they plan routes and fuel stops? Been running by my own choices for quite some time, so not used to these things being decided for me.
Are there deer guards on the trucks?
On SW regional, do most loads go to the same usual places like Laredo and Houston, or all over Texas?
Do they have a policy on guns in the trucks?
Hope that wasn't too many questions to dump on you.cdavis188 Thanks this. -
Oh, also... It's easy to find YouTube videos by drivers from just about every company, talking about how life is at their company, the pay, the conditions, etc., but I can't find any made by FCC drivers. Is there a company rule against doing so?

All tolls are paid and every truck has a Prepass Elite transponder.
They do fuel solutions but if you don’t like the route the fuel solution spits out, all you have to do is tell dispatch which route you want to take.
No deer guards on the trucks.
Vast majority of the freight on SWR goes to and from DFW, though there is some freight that goes to the Albuquerque area and a little around Houston, San Antonio and Amarillorunningman0661 and Gretchen's Dad Thank this. -
There's videos from drivers on YouTube maybe not many but there some. The pre orientation is done online and the rest is completed in just one day at the terminal. No deer guards.runningman0661 and Gretchen's Dad Thank this.
