I’m not sure about making that drive to Crete. That’s a lot of red. Looking at the traffic cam
for that exit and it looks like that overpass hasn’t been plowed at all. I dread to think what that stretch of two lane is like

 

I love winter !

 

It’s also a standard Nebraska state highway. 2 lane, narrow shoulders, and that road is also quite hilly

 

I know..been down it several times..

 

@cdavis188 just use your best judgment..you’re the captain of the ship and its your call whether you go or not.

 

I told dispatch that I don’t think I could safely make it there. I-80 is pretty clear for the most part. My concern is once I get off the freeway. I just feel like nothing good will happen if I attempt to navigate on that stretch.

So for now I’m holed up at Council Bluffs

 

I think this is just a terrible week to be on the roads in general. Roads got clear enough where I would be comfortable driving to Crete. But now the problem is elsewhere. Everything between here and Kansas City is supposed to get hammered. While Nebraska may be able to clear their roads, I have a lot less confidence in Missouri. Roads around St. Joseph and south are already looking bad. And KC always becomes a cluster when they get significant snowfall.

Can we just call a mulligan for this week?

 

Loaded for omaha in Terre haute Indiana this morning with the goal of getting to Woodhull Illinois to ride things out ...got in here just before dark with 7 to 12 expected with 45 mph winds and shoved it full of fuel and treated it for the coming deep freeze .
Showered and stocked up on supplies.
Well timed cause hard east wind and snowing at respectable rate now .
