That surprises me. They still had a LOT of manuals in the fleet when I worked there and didn't seem like they wanted to change that any time soon. That's too bad, I will never work there again if their manuals are gone.

What does the shop air the steers and drives up to? A steer tire was a bit low and i got it back over 100 but i’m not sure what the company policy is on tire pressure

most fleets are going to automatics nowadays so there’s not much you or I can do about it

That's true. But there are still companies out there with manuals. By the time there are no more manual company trucks anywhere, I will own my own truck so it won't matter.

we still have manuals but it’s our older trucks. Availability and price are big reasons why FCC has ordered nothing but autos for the past couple years. Manuals are optional extras now

Didn’t you own your truck when you drove for Helwig?

Yes, I had to sell that truck for many reasons I won't get into here.. but I learned a lot in the 2 years that I owned that truck and plan on getting another one eventually.

Anyone know if it's possible to enable opti-idle in the Detroit software? I am wanting to add that in so I can use a portable air conditioner to keep cool and the truck can auto start when the battery gets low. I should have done that from the beginning instead of buying a Apu I'll get that Apu removed asap since it's crapped out.

So after I got the hub oil topped up and the bolts on the hubcaps tightened to prevent further leakage I bopped over to Aurora and picked up a load going to Victorville. Was going pretty good until Friday. I got violently sick just south of Salt Lake City. Had to shut down for a bit over three hours to let it pass then clean the rolf off of the truck and myself.
Get to Victorville and the empty I was supposed to take out had a very wet spot on the floor (was soaked through and wet underneath as well) so had to call that in and then go ask for a different trailer.

Went over to City Logistics. They just moved to Compton. The old place they were at in Carson sounded a bit like a nightmare. The new place is in a very sus neighborhood and it’s pretty tight inside but doable. Load specifically mentioned looking for damage and that’s definitely still a thing. This poor trailer has been tore up pretty good.

The guard was a super nice guy, probably the nicest guy I’ve dealt with this week, but it was his first day and I don’t think he was on the honor roll in school. So he didn’t know how to do a damage report… or where the bills were. Only the second time I’ve had to use the blank BOLs. Finally got out of there and made it to within half an hour of Barstow…and got hung up in a backup from a wreck for about 45 minutes, finally parked 15 minutes over on my 14. So I’m sure I will be flayed the next time I poke my nose in at safety.
I’d hoped to get this to Nebraska Tuesday to get a really impressive check but it was not to be. I have 3000 miles for the week so it’s acceptable, but having a 4400 mile week would be a little better for the ego. Doing a reset now and will have it there Wednesday (which will hopefully give CS time to round up the actual BOL for this load).
