So here’s my fun today.
Sent to Baltimore with a load of shelving. Stop an hour short and roll in this morning for 0900 LUL.
I get my reload and it’s only 9 miles away… awesome… until I toss it into my RM GPS… seems awkward routing but looks like something blocking the closest bridge so I route south to take 695 back east to get to Shipper.
… but …
The bridge on 695 is totally closed for serious construction… (thanks RM for letting me know before I arrive… not) … reroute wants to take me ALL AROUND Baltimore to get there. Ugh… there has to be a shorter route, right? Right??
So I go back west to take 95 north and then back down on 695. But that seems long too. Maybe I’ll cut across on this one road to catch 695 instead of going so far north.
oops… that wasn’t a very truck friendly option… lol … got through but not sure I want to do that again.
Turns out you can’t even get to 695 South from where I ended up and had to go north 5 miles on 695 to go south on 695.
get closer to shipper and yup, 695 is closed before you get there. Ya, hop right back onto city streets again, still shaking from the last opportunity. (No, not really but cautious) … wasn’t bad getting here…
but…
I get here just in time for their lunch break… LOL
CHEERS
(while I don’t refuse loads to the NE, days like today make me question that… lol … I don’t mind coming here but when ish goes sideways I’m not fond of the options)Knucklehead, cdavis188, Rugerfan and 1 other person Thank this. -

On my way out to Washington again. Just doing 80/84/82 because i’m boring. It looks relatively quiet so i’m not expecting many issues. I’ve never ran westbound down cabbage hill so that will be exciting, especially with 45k in the box. I’ll probably just set the descent control to 35-40 mph and let the jakes do the rest.
I’ve also found a speed that i feel the most comfortable at. And that’s 66 mphKnucklehead, motocross25, rokue and 1 other person Thank this. -
Don't be a hero, do what the sign recommends at the brake check before going down, brake a yoke or ujoint you want to get it stopped quick. At least for the first time.
Goody3635, cdavis188 and motocross25 Thank this. -
A percent and a 1/2 steeper than popping out of the Eisenhower on 70. I think it’s longer too. While that doesn’t seem like much.. it is. Especially if you have 23 ton on.Knucklehead, Rugerfan, IH9300SBA and 1 other person Thank this. -
Also small update on my truck. Apparently decent progress is being made but it’s currently held up in the frame shop. I wish they would finish it up already. I know i’m beating a dead horse but I’ve never exactly liked the one i’m in now. Either the person before me didn’t care at all how they treated this truck or it was made on a Monday after everyone drank over the weekend, or a combination of the two.
Except for a small A/C issue that required a couple hour trip to the Freightliner dealer, my truck never gave me any problems whatsoever, unlike this oneLast edited: Dec 10, 2024

Going down cabbage the engine breaks on these new detroits with the autoshift shiuld be able to hold you back at 35mph going down cabbage..it does on my truck and only have to tap the breaks once or twice going down..
Goody3635, runningman0661, MidWest_MacDaddy and 1 other person Thank this.
