Are they going to be able to find you something that fits you better than a Cascadia? That’s a long commitment for a truck that is suboptimal for your physique.
If you raid the 401k the taxes really, really suck.
I hope it goes great for you.

I would like to find a good “Service Only” plan that doesn’t build in a “free device” every 2-3 years into the Prices. They supposedly did away with those plans a few years back and now they all come back.Knucklehead Thanks this. -
Literally “going home” use.
(but I have other examples)
Actual example here… last trip to SC I was heading back to see and play with my 95# Pit one last day before putting him down due to cancer tumors that I found the last time I was in SC.
Long story short, I was in NJ and thought I could just get a Broker Load south and then another one to get back up here to run Dedicated. But instead they needed me to run a load all the way back to Omaha/Lincoln to get a load to Savannah before heading to SC. Ok, trying to be flexible and I don’t see all the pieces, etc.
It looked like I might have an hour left on my 70 after delivery, a couple days out. But it’s 3 hours home. 3 less 1 on my 70 less 1 on PC and I’m coming up short by an hour. I call in ahead to see about getting PC limit turned off or extended and was told “no but they would ask. If you dont hear back it was a no.” … I never heard back so I guess that’s a no. (Or a ball got dropped)
Now turns out this is a moot point as I actually came up 2 hours short of getting to SAV without my next day recap so I had to roll over and drop next day then head to SC on my recap hours and didn’t touch PC. (I was a good boy staying within the HOS Rules)
BUT, ya… seems some “company policy” would have had this Driver stop an hour short of where I was trying to get to … legally, using PC.
So ya, I too came pretty darn close to a “f company policy” moment/decision myself. Now maybe another call with more of the sob story would have changed the decision, but a “company policy” keeping a driver from “going home” after a delivery, with an empty trailer…
{insert eye roll here}
just the story. Not #####ing. But ya, I think we could lighten up a bit at times. For legit reasons.

When I brought it up I was a little grumpy already and knew there was weather coming in. A lot of times I’ll bounce home from the Omaha area if there’s no paper to shuttle to Lincoln. So I was trying to guess about stuff a couple days out. I was already on my way to Clayton when they sent my reload, and given the kind of day I was already having the “it is what it is” response kinda bugged me.
After I dropped in Bellevue I grabbed one out of CB going to Crete, so I knew at the very least I could PC home from there if I had to. But I ended up not needing to, although I should’ve PC’d from where I drop my trailer because my clock read exactly 70 hours when I parked.
I will admit I was already grumpy from being in the wind for days on end and wondering how bad the blizzard was going to be. But everything worked out.MidWest_MacDaddy, Knucklehead, motocross25 and 3 others Thank this. -
Well, the day did not go to plan. I was a few miles from my delivery in Lincoln when a young man made an unfortunate decision. Thank God no one was hurt but I am probably doing a truck swap tomorrow's as mine is looking a bit rough and isn’t a candidate for going to California without some TLC.

Let’s say they bend the rules and give you the go ahead to PC home, and God forbid you are involved in a crash (doesn’t even have to be an at fault accident) the ambulance chasing lawyers will eat them alive in court. They will always CTA in that situation.MidWest_MacDaddy and M22 rockcrusher Thank this. -
