Do you have a trucking business yourself? In order to get financing for a truck, you need experience as an o/o. I was told, by a dealership salesman, that they'd rather have someone with a 600 credit score, and two years experience running a trucking venture, than an 800 score and no experience. I can only imagine that an SB loan is going to be the same way in these times.

As far as having a 600 credit score with experience; that tells me that much of that experience is failure; and at some point, not paying bills.

A reputable company with a realistic LP, that benefits from the driver succeeding, is not as bad as everyone thinks. It takes the lessee some common sense, and learning on the fly. You can't lump all drivers into the failure category. There are actually some drivers out here who can add 2+2 and come away owning a truck.

That’s why it’s easier to work with a local bank versus trying to get commercial funding for your first truck. I’ve always worked with a local bank at home that I’ve used since my first checking account in high school. And often times I end up with way better interest rate than what commercial lenders offer.

If you could start out on a L/P with a truck with zero miles and all the warranty it would be ok. Getting a hand me down with half the warranty left and still paying full price would be my problem. If Chris has done his homework and can make it work more power to him.

Was on the side of the road briefly today. The coolant level sensor left the chat. I was really, really glad I grabbed the ’goody box’ from my truck that has, among other things, spare fuses. Breakdown really would like to have it fixed in our shop so I talked to my DM and let him know the truck is homesick. My 70 is almost cooked so after I deliver tomorrow I’ll have enough hours for one day of running then I’ll have to reset Thursday so I won’t make it to the mothership until sometime this weekend.

Spent more or less an hour to go 3 miles. Some jackknifed truck blocking the highway so all the traffic was detoured thru Purcell, OK. It was bad enough that my ELD kicked me to line 4. I counted myself pretty lucky not to be caught in any major backups for a very long time but i guess my luck had to run out eventually

11,497.8 odometer miles for the month of March, most of it on SWR

This maybe true (ish) for a new truck, but the used truck market thrives on first time buyers. What happens if they decide to terminate his lease before it’s complete? That’s an honest question. And a fairly important one to this equation

Then he'll have experience to buy his own truck next time.

But out everything he paid for this one. Yeah, that sounds great! Over pay for a truck for 2.5 years just to start over again. Sign me up for that bargain

And by the way. It isn’t just experience. It’s experience and a proven record of being profitable. So it’s BS on the 600 credit score.
