FCC--Fremont Contract Carriers

    So when I get home tomorrow morning I will have been out right at five weeks. It’s been a very productive and profitable five weeks.

    Over the years I’ve been leased to FCC I’ve heard things such as you can’t make any money leased on to FCC on a mileage contract, or there rate per mile is garbage. I would starve over there.

    So here are my numbers for the last 5 weeks gross $22,478.64 Net to the house $14,462.96. for a weekly net average of $2892..59. I have an additional .12 a mile going into my maintenance fund FCC deducts for me that amount was $1671.00.

    Not bad for pulling general van freight in the current economic climate.

    I will be taking 9 days off, we fly out Sunday morning to San Diego for my youngest grandson’s high school graduation. When I come back out at the end of the month I plan on staying out until July 1st.

    I was on a percentage contract at Tralo. I leased to FCC Jan of 2024 so my money didn’t cross from one company to the next. 2024 my gross was lower than 2023, but my net was higher ever with spending more on maintenance in 2024.

    When you figure the fuel discount, tire discount, parts discounts, cheaper insurance than I could get on my own, paid tolls, etc the overall package is decent. Most people just look at the amount per mile and make their decision without factoring in anything else.

    I wish I would’ve gone there sooner and the only reason I left was because I sold my truck. When I left I said it had zero to do with anything about them and it was because I had the chance to learn how to haul fuel.

    I just fueled up for almost 90 cents off pump price...$2.76 vs $3.64...that's less than what I paid to fuel my pickup last weekend

    whatever you average now, and maybe a few hundred less. I tend to dislike only going home for a 34 because that's not a weekend at home, but there's some that stay out 2-4 weeks on SWR and run OTR miles. I live right on a major lane for us so it's very easy for me to get home frequently and when needed

    They were just able to renegotiate lower insurance premiums on all insurance for owner operators. It should save me about $30 a week in fixed costs.

    My physical damage through FCC was $128 a month cheaper than what I had been paying Great West on my own. I got the email about getting lower premiums the day after I left. I was curious what mine would’ve dropped to.

    If you drive something that gets ok fuel mileage and take advantage of all the discounts anyone should be able to have a decent life and be able to put money back for repairs and truck replacement.

    I think it’s been over a year since I delivered to a Kawasaki dealership. So today was a little exciting. Got both stops off.
    Next load is a Cheap, Heavy, and Late. Customer tendered it as a pickup window, got here and they stated it’s an appointment (in 3 1/2 hours) DM told me they are going to try to collect detention but based on Google reviews I don’t have a lot of hope I’m getting paid.
    ‘Appointment’ time just rolled by and the delivery appointment tomorrow is already a bust. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

    I don't think this whole 'staying out 5 days and taking the weekend off' is going too well, at least money and mileage wise

    I've had 3 paychecks with more than 2500 miles on them since I went back to SWR at the beginning of March. I've been averaging just a tad over 2,300 miles per week. I'm 2000 miles behind what I should be for my quarterly mileage goal

    Time to think up a new gameplan, especially since I'll now be making a truck payment

    On MWR I’d usually get home Saturday between 9am and 2pm. Then I’d leave out Monday morning. I’d do that for a few weeks in a row and then I’d take a real weekend or a 3 day weekend depending on if I had any plans or not. Living where I’m at if I wanted a full weekend every weekend I probably would’ve been home pretty early on Friday.

    I’ve found it’s difficult to make a lot of miles when you limit yourself to a 5 day work week running regional. I’m not familiar with how things work with you living in Salina but I’m sure it benefitted me being close to Aurora and Crete, and also Lincoln although once Brendan wasn’t my DM anymore I rarely got any Kawasaki loads.

    I guess my advice would be to try a 34 at home for at least a couple weeks and see if that benefits you at all or if you just end up getting home earlier. Also with Brendan and Matt I let them know that unless I made them aware of it on Monday to just plan me for a 34 at home that weekend.
