After a nice long weekend at the house, I rolled out this morning. I was sent down to Sumter to pick up a preloaded trailer going up to Nebraska for a drop Thursday morning. A nice load to get this pay period started off right. I made it to Oak Grove, Ky. tonight, I will probably drag my feet and roll out of here about 0600. Hopefully I will hit St. Louis as morning rush is ending. Be safe!

As a company driver if someone stays out 21 days would be possible to get 7 days of time off?

Probably not, the only company with a home time policy like that is Magnum.

One of FCC’s truck came in and unloaded where I was at Winona MN. A small place at dead end road on a residential street.

So today was one of those days that we will sometimes have in this wonderful industry. As I pulled into the customer this morning to drop my loaded trailer, and pick up another pre loaded trailer heading back to NC. I was idling, as I sent in my arrival macro, I heard the same ticking/rattling sound I heard a few months ago, when my high pressure fuel system handgrenaded on my previous truck. I thought, "maybe I'm just hearing things" I cut the truck off, went in the shipping office grabbed my loaded bills, the whole time thinking WTF, not again. I fired the truck back up and eased into the trailer lot to swap trailers, still making the very familiar noise.

I had to head towards our terminal in Council Bluffs, for a grease job anyway, so I rolled that way. When I pulled it into the shop they pulled the fuel filters and found metal shavings in both filters. So the truck went to Detroit, and I moved a few essentials into a loaner. They say, by midweek next week my truck should be done. Our fleet has had a rash of these in the last 6 months. The fuel pump starts to disintegrate, causing the whole high pressure rail system to be affected. They entire fuel system has to be replaced, the tanks have to be drained and cleaned. I guess the Detroit shop in Council Bluffs, can turn a truck out in as few as two days, if they aren't backed up.

So I swapped trucks rather quickly, and made it another 300 miles down the road. I will swing by the house for a 34, and deliver this Monday, then I'm pre planned on a load out of NC, going up to Belvidere, Illinois.

At least you can't blame FCC so much as detroit and or freightliner in this case. It's cool you got a loaner truck to keep going.

Sounds like Detroit might need to consider a recall.

Nope it's a Detroit issue, they know there's a problem, but refuse to do a recall of some sort. So I guess they will just keep eating the cost of repairs since it's happening under warranty. My last truck did it at 90K, and this one at 266K.
