Strong cold front moving through the area is why. High was supposed to be knocking on the door of 90 where I live, but it's gonna tumble below freezing tonight.

That's the reason why a large swath is in a tornado watch. Strong cold front meeting warm and moist airmass = strong storms.

Not trying to be a dick, I just don’t know how familiar with a Freightliner you are. While parked if you scroll thru the menu there should be a screen called “Diagnostics” or maybe “Faults”. I don’t remember off the top of my head. But you can get in there and see what code it’s throwing.

Looked through the menus and found what you are looking for. I may be only 23 but I'm not that technologically inclined.

Anyways, it has like 4 or 5 different faults, all of which seem to find problems with the circuit that goes to the temperature sensors for the two drive axles. Sure enough, I scrolled to said gauges and the sensor for the front drive axle worked sporadically, and the temperature on the rear one was just blank and won't show a reading at all.

That was at exit 95 Whiteland Indiana. I had to sit through the backup while they were cleaning debris off of I 65 Sunday on my way to cedar rapids. Came through there this morning and 65 was not bad. IMG_20230404_091757.jpg IMG_20230404_091759.jpg IMG_20230404_091757.jpg

Here are a couple pics I tried to take .

I had this exact problem with a Freightliner I was issued. Road grime and salt dust and mud get thrown into that sensor and causes it to wig out if I remember right. It’s a pretty quick fix. And actually if you do a “hard reset” on your truck shutting the truck off and flipping the battery disconnect for 10 minutes, it might fix itself.

My truck with Magnum had physical gauges for the axle temps, and I would see them do funky stuff sometimes. Either go between working and not working or just generally give inaccurate readings. Happened more often during winter if I remember right. I haven't washed this truck since I got it and really haven't driven it in any heavy rain recently either.

Those are faults for the SSAM Module only and none of those will turn on a CEL I don't believe. You should be able to find Engine Diagnostics in that menu and that's the one you're looking for to see about the CEL.

I looked all through that menu and that was the only one with any fault codes

Plus… that’s the ‘minor’ check engine light. It’s the one with ‘check’ written in the engine or the red one that needs attention right away.
That solid one…. Could stay on, could go out….
