My company offers $200 holiday pay for 6 holidays a year whether we work them or not…but I think companies should offer holiday pay for their drivers..I believe many could easily afford it and it would help on attracting top drivers

I’ve been in this industry awhile, getting paid deadhead miles to go home is almost unheard of. They’ll pay you coming out of the house to get a load, but not going home empty. Sometimes as an owner operator that pays for fuel, I have to bounce 200+ miles to get home after a Four Oaks load.

That was one thing that I didn't like about FCC. Zero holiday pay of any sort. I'm sure they wouldn't go bankrupt if they offered it.

I think I'm most likely getting a load from Propak in Albuquerque. Dispatch asked me when I drop at Wally World, to take an empty and drop it there. Then go back to Walmart to get another empty to take there.

My company touted hourly pay, get home weekly and started a new short haul division. It lasted 6 months then they pulled the plug on it, why? Because of what you just said, the drivers that signed up for it immediately became lazy and cost the company a boatload of money paying drivers 10 hours pay for doing a load that should have been done in 5.

Hey runningman, maybe that might be something worth bringing up at one of the advisory board meetings? Detention pay procedures, and holiday pay. Never hurts to start the conversation right.
