Working on the pre-orientation stuff now. A little stumped on the cargo security plan. There is a Pilot about 6 miles away from the house but it does fill up at night (even the paid spots) and with trucking you can't always predict what time of day you're going to get back. So I can't guarantee that every time I came home that I could park there.
Not super thrilled with the idea of parking the truck at the house. The city mostly seems to not care. But we're in an older residential neighborhood. We have two facilities as neighbors that serve special needs kids. It's a madhouse in the morning and the afternoon with the dropoffs and the pickups, not too mention the thought of what could go wrong with a stray kid is nightmare fuel. I do check the truck before heading out but that just seems like tempting fate. They are both 8-5 M-F so popping in on a Saturday or Sunday could be doable but not during the week.
Would like to get my orientation stuff done but not thrilled with either of the first 2 options for parking that come to mind. Am I overthinking this?

They just want to have an idea where you would park the truck on home time. Any concerns or questions call recruiting and discuss it with them.

6 am down here and it's 80 degrees and 80% humidity. I don't understand how anyone would choose to live here. I need all 4 seasons of the year. Besides that there's just way too much traffic around here. Maybe it's because I grew up in a comparatively tiny town in Kansas.

Agreed, leaving the metroplex now. Ready to go home and see more cows less people

How exactly are we supposed to fill out the mileage on our trip sheets? Apparently I've been doing it wrong since I started here.

Some storage lots for rv's have an area big enough for your rig. Otherwise a local trucking company may let you may to park there. only use the truckstop as a last resort unless you don't care about getting your hood taken off.

You just enter the the mileage from when you delivered your last load then the mileage when you make your delivery. Then enter that odometer reading on the empty miles spot for your next load. That's the way I always did it as a company driver.

Trust me, further south you go especially in texas the humidity is a killer.. when I was home a few weeks back, I walked out my front door at 5:45 in the morning and just walk to my car and was sweating buckets. The sun wasn’t even up… It’s disgusting not to mention intolerable in my opinion…

I was reading somewhere south Texas had like 94 degrees measured in “wet bulb temperature”. Obviously I did not know what this meant so
I looked it up. Well I already forgot specifics, but it had to do with the temperature matched the dew point or something like that, and even shade and a breeze would not cool you off. The only way to cool would be air conditioning.

What is the Wet Bulb Temperature?

Pulled into town with 11 minutes left on my drive clock. Should I do a couple of laps around the yard I park in to get it above 700? LOL
