Left home yesterday morning and deadheaded to Orrick, MO to pick up 5k lbs of product that went to Menards in Shelby. Dropped that load this morning and dispatch had me pick up another trailer there going to a Menards store in Lincoln which I'm offloading right now. Then I will head up to Fremont.

So I tried out both the Pete and the Kenworth, and even though the Kenworth is a condo and has better storage, I chose the 579 for the following reasons. I adjusted both seats to my preferred driving position:
1. There's more room for my left foot than in the KW.
2. Front visibility outside the windshield of the 579 is great, especially looking up. The KW doesn't even hold a candle in this category.
3. The KW has cupholders that jut out from the center and restricts movement of my right leg if I need to move or stretch it a little. The Pete doesn't have this and my I can move my right leg a lot more freely.
4. The midroof Pete feels a lot more roomy sitting in the sleeper than my Cascadia and dare I say the KW also, probably due to lack of stotage cabinets.
5. The KW has this annoying sliding table that in the stowed position takes up almost half of the foot of the bed.
6. The dash ergonomics of the 579 seems a bit better than the KW in my driving position. But honestly the Cascadia blows both out of the water.
Yes, the Pete is a midroof, and yes, that hump can be annoying. But the fact is I spend most of my time either in the driver's seat or sitting in the sleeper, not going between the two.
I also noticed the lack of storage. However, with me only being on regional, I'm not taking my whole house with me like I would if I was OTR. There's a cabinet that would hold my tall laundy hamper just fine, and that's really all I'm worried about.
The 579 I'm going into is white and has about 389k miles, so it still has a decent amount of time before I'd have to change trucks.
Both the KW and the Pete are better for me than my Cascadia. But the 579 is more comfortable for me in the driver's seat and sitting in the sleeper.Woobie, Speed_Drums, dwells40 and 7 others Thank this. -
I'm picking up in Blair tomorrow morning going to Springdale, AR. What do we usually get out of the area?

At the CB Shop for a Truck Visit before dropping tonight in Lincoln then grabbing a Kawasaki load heading back to Ellabell. Hoping to get there before they shut down Friday but I might be sitting on this load until Monday. Which, while I’d prefer my wheels be rolling, I have a daughter in Savannah so a visit with her wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen while babysitting a load for the weekend.
gntorres61, dwells40, bzinger and 2 others Thank this.
