I am sorry it took so long to reply, as I have been extremely busy since I last posted on here.

Yes our cell phone ban is ridiculous. Now, they don't "write you up" but you get "officially counseled on paper" for violating a company policy. Now, this does cover music as well as talking on a blue tooth. Since the law allows you, they don't officially write you up for it or fire you over it for specifically doing it, but they would for repeatedly breaking the company policy.

As of using at as GPS, I use it all the time as a city driver when going around to unknown areas i cover. But we do it smartly. We use it when were not moving set it up, and have it in sight til the next stop. I can see where they come from on a local city hourly position, since paid by the hour and some companies have cell phone bans to drive production, but why they have it for line haul is unknown to me.

Also what people need to know is SAIA now has driver facing cameras with audio recording that are triggered during "critical" events in all tractors 2013 and newer. mainly focused on line haul trucks, but since we slip seat 95% of our trucks, its in all city trucks as well. it is a pain in the arse at first, but no so bad now. Got used to them, know what triggers them and avoid tripping them and they never send videos in.
