Knowing how well your boss pays, he'll probably pay you extra, per door...:)

Good point. I’ll need to ask……

    ***update***
Because of the mental anguish I went through early this morning swinging doors, I was given a new hat.

Hey JB, beautiful home brother. You obviously married well
I’ve followed your journey since your Calex days, you’re a great example of how’s it done. Enjoy that retirement brother, are you moving to the Caribbean or just buying a yacht? Lol, I need another cruise ✌️

Lonesome, JohnBoy and Knucklehead Thank this.

Thank you. Retiring to Fairhope Alabama. In fact, my wife is up there as we speak house hunting. Don’t want to jinx it, but we got an offer on our home last weekend after 3 days on the market and are in the negotiating stage right now. Great to hear from you!

Made my reservations to fly home a week from Monday. Will be home until the 2nd. Been wrapped up with the holiday rush. I’m on the overflow turn from the Humboldt hub to the Memphis hub twice a night. I bring a loaded pup to Memphis, a loaded 53’ back to Humboldt, rinse and repeat. I’m done and having breakfast at 0630 every morning. Last night, Linehaul cancelled my 2nd turn and I was fine with that and in bed at 0130 this morning. It’s nice not having to worry about miles. I still got paid my full salary.

I can’t believe that on January 2nd it will be a year of me doing this job. Though there was a learning curve the first 2 months, and it took a while to put me on a regular route, this has turned into a pretty good deal. All the things I dealt with while I was OTR doesn’t exist anymore. No planning my day around where I will park at night, no fueling issues, guaranteed salary, great hometime, and the best part, my work week average hours are 41 hours per 7 days. I’m able to have a solid week off per month at the house and still broke the 100K club. Like I’ve said, there is life after door swinging OTR.

But, trust me, as good as this job is and as much as I enjoy this type of work, I’ll be happy as a pig in poop when I officially end my career in February. My only regret is that I didn’t find a job like this 10 years ago.

That’s not a good attitude. You should keep going until you drop. Be a team player. :biggrin_25522: :biggrin_25523:

One of my coworkers is in his mid 70’s and still running linehaul actually.

Knew a guy who was working for Penske as a hiker, picking up and delivering trucks between branches, customers, etc. Last time I saw him, he was 82.
