Seems like the same for me when I wrench on my truck all weekend. Then I get a weekend where I'm caught up on truck maintenance and end up working on my car or house. LOL.

They just had one built around a couple miles from me. Went to it one time with some friends and it was fun, even for me and I NEVER golf. Place is always crowded in the evening. The price is outrageous though unless you have 5 or 6 people splitting it up.

Today I had a customer say "Why are you so late, if this continues I'm going to change suppliers!"
What's you're normal response to this?
One of the senior drivers who has been around a while said "Ehh Mike don't sweat that, most of that is an empty threat, let me tell you something I've seen them come and I've seen them go and then I've seen them come back. Just tell them to call the sales rep."

I mean did they want me to say "Yeah I was just screwing off for the past half hour to screw you over." Is that what they wanted me to say? Or the best one and this is what we did at the beer company "Uh so do you want it or not?"

Or as a boss once said "Tell them to call management." Usually when you say call management that's usually a dead stop in the water hands down. The minute you say that it's "Oh I got to call management, that's like dealing with the federal government you'll get some kind of someone on the phone, but they will just talk in circles and when it's all said and done you won't have accomplished a darn thing.

The sales people will say anything to get the business, but usually it's not delivered to what they told the customer, usually what happens is they tell the customer anything and then routing and the warehouse do what ever they want anyhow and it's one of those things where well we got you singed up and it's a pain for you to switch and who are we kidding, you know Sysco's $2.00 more a case for that particular item and basically it boils down to these peoples bark is worse then there bite.

I bet you MBM guys probably don't get as much talk like that from customers (not saying you don't get any I'm not that naive) but, because chain accounts there's more paper work and contracts at the top end at the corporate level the actual unit you deliver to really has no say at all who the supplier is.

Yeah that's one of the perks of delivering coke. I mean it's coke, they have to take it, they need it, and no one else delivers it. So I pretty much have an I don't care attitude about my arrival time.

It was like that at Coors where I worked, the store owners knew everyday Tom would come in to buy a case of Coors and so on there delivery day they needed that 5 cases of Coors or else they weren't going to sell Tom much of anything so like it or not they were going to take it.

When I delivered beer I was at a stop one day and a guy came into the stop and said "Charley where's all the ginger ale." The store owner said "I'm trying to place an order for it the man was here yesterday, but I, I cannot control the Coca Cola company."

I get that sometimes for pickups, not so much on deliveries. After that i always throw the dispatchers under the bus since its usually their fault anyway. Don't shoot the messenger
