For those if you wondering what's going on, it's a severe upper respitory infection, basically everytime I cough I come close to throwing up, and my lymph nodes are so swollen it looks like I have two golf balls sticking out of my neck, throat is sore as all hell too, I have to get my truck worked on at the terminal, and I'm only 4 hours away, so I might as well just suck it up and make the drive, then just have our shuttle take me to immediate care

My dad's Pennsylvania backwoods family concoction for a sore throat.

A cup of warm water and all the salt it will hold mixed in.

    Two drops of Iodine

Gargle as deep as possible WITHOUT SWALLOWING!!!

Just thought us update everyone, its a really bad respitory infection, they gave me antibiotics and some prescription cough syrup that has me off the truck until I'm feeling better (the cough syrup was partially to ensure my company couldn't try to make me run a load) lots of rest and relaxation till this is out of my system

Simple answer, stop at the nearest truckstop, tell the cashier you need to go to the nearest Urgent Care facility NOW. 99% of the time, they will find a way to get you there or have someone take you there.

If someone has medical condition urgent enough to post on this site I would think call 911 for an ambulance would be a good thing to do, they will bill your insurance company. But then you probably don't have any of that either.
