I could never go back to the joke that is irregular route one way freight. 12 years of that non sense, 12 years of miserable fools who hate their jobs. What I think and what I do are two completely different things. Surprised I still have a tongue left.

It must be Fedex because USPS is faster.

I've hauled a couple of loads of periodicals out of printers and into USPS facilities. On the bills it usually said to deliver ONLY on the day it was supposed to deliver because they had certain dates they wanted the magazines to deliver to homes, and if you delivered early or late the delivery timing would be off.

Lowes and Home Depot stores can be that way. Some Lowe s you can deliver early without a fine or hit against your carrier. Home Depot will fine your company if you try to deliver to a store early

Over the years I have had a few loads that could not either pick up or deliver early.

A fine for being early? You have to be kidding me! Detention pay should start the minute you get to a shipper or receiver then.
-
woohoo ! sounds like some greaseball junior broker just got an attaboy for making his company $250.00 !!

at some retailers distribution centers the people who set up the orders are often measured based on warehouse turns - how many days the inventory is in the warehouse. Arriving a day early can mess up the metrics, often the buyers are bonused/paid on these metrics.
