Edit. You have a witness and the other party doesn't. I believe you.
Probably the hazard of working with a driver lessing company. Like I said, UPS freight was probably a better outfit when they were Overnite.Last edited: May 1, 2017

Stories like this are certainly not outside the realm of possibility.
Sounds to me like it's an issue of someone in the safety department having an "open case" of sorts and they're looking for whatever straw they can grasp to close it.
My company tried to hold a city driver responsible for a red light camera ticket. The idiots didn't bother to notice the time stamps in the pictures. They were taken at around 3:00 AM.
Turns out if was an out of town linehaul drone who happened to be in that city driver's territory at the time.Velli, Big Don, AtticusRoad and 2 others Thank this. -
I've got a friend with Freight on the P&G account out of Hutchins Tx. Sounds like a three ring circus. Could be an okay situation but they always have three or four useless drivers ruining it for everyone. Also they slip seat Penske rentals and are bringing some CNG's on board.
They have a zero tolerance policy for logging violations, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Only problem is that it's a corporate driven culture and they tend to be overzealous on the pink slips.
The good drivers with a strong work ethic and those more than capable of performing the prescribed duties of the very simple job description end up working a little harder to take up the slack.fargonaz Thanks this. -

It seems like these safety idiots at large carriers like to create issues where they don't exist in order to justify their jobs. You know, make it look like they're actually doing something useful with their time.
Example, Safety manager A dinged 100 drivers last year with at fault accidents. He really must be doing a great job, let's give him a raise. In realty though they're about as useful as tits on a bull.SQ200 Thanks this. -

Safety people at large companies often have a very limited shelf life.
When DOT or the insurance company start screaming about accidents and violations the company usually sacrifices some of the safety staff. They take the hit and the company claims that they're trying to do the right thing. They're not, of course, but it looks good.
A friend of mine worked as a senior safety person for five megas in twenty years. He says there's about as much job security as being an NFL coach...but not nearly as much money. No cheerleaders, either.AtticusRoad and Big Don Thank this. -
I got blamed once for backing into a wall surrounding a dumpster. Didn't call it in for a week after I delivered there and claimed they had an eyewitness. I pulled up the place on Google Maps and showed them the lot. Where I was there was no possible way to even see the dumpster from where the witness claimed and the path where I was backing into the dock went the direction away from the wall. Company and I discussed it, they looked at the pictures of said wall that someone had to have hit hard, inspected the trailer and tractor which didn't have a mark on either and determined they were lying and blaming me for I'm sure was another driver's mishap. My company refused to pay them a cent, told them we'd no longer deliver there, and then the place blaming me backtracked and made some lameass excuse and dropped it. We still refused to do any more business there. Moral of the story is people out here will blame you for anything to cover their own ### and I gained a lot of respect for my company that day for standing up for what's right and not just giving in to the customer.
homeskillet, tinytim and duckdiver Thank this.
