Well I got my cdl yesterday. I was able to talk to tmc at the school and they are going to review my application. I live 6 miles south of I-10 so I was initially turned down. Anyway, if I can't get on with tmc then I do have orientation dates with both swift and kllm. As far as my school goes I was impressed with the staff and the amount ot attention they were willing to give the students that were having trouble catching on. I'll keep updating my status as I learn more.

Good job man....and good lucl with whomever you choose, ill be checking ur posts to read the updates....as im still in the middle of trying to figure out whom to go with as well
-
I am entering my second week of training in Moulton Alabama. Monday we start road training. Friday I got the chance to get familiar with straight backing. The only thing that is (not really concerning) on my mind is the Alley Dock. I figure it is just like getting used to the controls and having the time to get a feel for it.
I am also wondering who to sign with. I dont know much about TMC or KLLM.... what are your thoughts on them? -
Well, I did the alley dock as part of my test and did well. I am hoping for tmc, they are taking another look at my app due to the fact that I live 6 miles outside their normal hiring area. I like to work for my exercise and they pay pretty well starting out. Kllm is my second choise because of their tuition reimbursement program and they pay new drivers more than the other boxes. Besides the fact that they are based about 150 miles from home.

Middle of the second week and right now I am at the top pf the class. picked up upshifting and downshifting VERY fast. Finally getting alley dock under control too.
Tomorrow is City Driving! WOOT!
Looks like Central Refrige or TMC.... -
Anyone attending TDI/CDI in Saucer, pay attention to this. When Pops talks, LISTEN!
The man's been there and done that.
Rich, Scott and my Jarhead buddy also have a wealth of knowledge and experience. They will teach you anything you need as long as you show the desire to learn. -
I will be starting cdl school in Saucier in May. Could someone please give any information about what to expect while there. I talked to the recruiter there but i would really appreciate some info from someone who has been there and done that. thanks for the help
-
First, you'l spend a week with Pop. He's extremely knowledgeable... Pay attention to him and his lectures and you'll do well in the permit written test on Wednesday. Weeks 2 and 3 are all maneuvering and road work. See my comment above for further info.
As long as you get your butt in the seat and follow their guidance, you'll do ok. All too many figure they've got things down pat and sit on their tails on the bench... And fail the CDL test. PRACTICE EVERY CHANCE YOU GET! -
Go BEARCATS!!!
Sorry, I had to do that. (LBHS Class of 1972) -
I won't say a word about Tigers or Rockachaws...
JustSonny Thanks this.
