dang, and you're driving a 80,000lb lethal weapon? not only can you not read, you cant count either. if you look at my status i have 2 yrs experience. I changed it to 32 because a few months ago, there was a thread where we all talked about how someone use to color in their dads log books, so they could claim to have started driving back then. Then i said my dad drove truck for 30 yrs, so i could claim his experience as mine. so the '32 yrs exp.' was a joke. A joke....is a story with a humorous climax. And i never 'made fun of' L/Os. I just said you cannot call yourself an O/O cause you dont own the truck. And you cant call yourself "independant contractor" cause you arent really independant....since you can only drive the lease truck pulling swift loads. And the bill i got the first time i took my truck to the KW dealership was for $320. the battery was $100-120, and the rest was labor and 'shop supplies'. If you want, i can scan the bill and post it on here. and i'm not 28..i'm 36.

and as far as your 'status'.....anything you do dont impress me, cause i've already done it. ......EXCEPT FOR PULLING AWAY FROM A TRAILER WITH MY AIR LINES STILL ATTACHED.

Yes I think it is worth it. I read about other drivers' experiences with their companies on here and am thankful Swift hasn't come up with some of the things others suffer like:

    • Truck auto-slows down every time a 4 wheeler cuts in front
    • Cruise Control cuts out when headlights are turned on
    • Some companies require driver to stand on the dock during (un)loading
    • Some companies don't allow drivers to be on the road between midnight and 6 AM (my favorite time to drive)

Good things about Swift (add your own)

    • Vast terminal network
    • Trip plans will be sent in text form to your cell phone so you will know pick-up and delivery cities, and times
    • Direct Deposit
    • Excellent Lease Program
    • Swift University
    • Loose Leaf Logs
    • Award Winning Drivers Are Safe and Courteous

every company has 'crap' you have to put up with. unless you drive for a mom-and-pop outfit, who wont last much farther into 2015, all companies have something their drivers dont like. They could be a great outfit as far as their equipment, but their terminals are dumps. or great terminals and shops...but the trucks are 30 yrs old. take your pick. you dont have one without the other.

Do i plan to drive for Swift for 30 yrs? who knows. I'll go wherever i'm happy. what i make, i make because its what i'm happy with. i dont care what someone else thinks of what i make. it dont bother me....but it must bother them cause they always seem to make a big deal about it. LOL

"vast terminal network"....i can tell you've been on-hold with swift long enough to memorize that off the recording.

Direct Deposit.....this a 'swift only' thing? no other carrier does this?? wow...swift is 'best in class'...LOL

"Excellent Lease Program".....excellent? i wouldn't go as far as to say its "excellent". its not the best, but its not 'excellent'. if it were excellent, they'd allow drivers to 'walk away' without having to find someone to take over leasing the truck....

Loose leaf logs? been doing loose leaf logs for the past year and a half....its called Driver Daily Log.com, run off my laptop. I still print out the old red log format, and will continue to do so till they tell me i cant....which wont be for a while. =)

Award winning drivers? LOL....count how many trucks have "thanks a million" stickers on the side of their trucks. not many. and some that do have them on the truck, must have been given to them, or stolen. LOL

MAN....you've GOT to have SWIFT on your tennis shoes. You probably spent the $200 on the cheap pleather swift jacket, have the swift clipboard, swift toiletry bag, swift backpack and the swift helmet. =)

well early friday morning, i went MT dropping the load off at the Wal-Mart DC in Ottawa, KS. Then was told to bobtail to the Wal-Mart DC i'm running out of now, till the 24th (just to keep me close to home to make it easier on my DM to get me home for christmas). i was to have a run saturday night, but it didnt happen cause they wanted to be sure i knew how the DC operated. (which i already knew cause my mentor was based out of a wal-mart DC) I was told i was going to get a load saturday morning, which didnt happen....i got one for sat. night, and took off about 2-3p and got back early this morning. I'm now getting ready to take a nap before i head out again on a 400 mi round tripper with 3 stops.

Plainum status is awarded before 108K miles based on proration. In other words, after that 90 days is up, mileage will be averaged and if the individual averages out to be making 108K/year had that individual been working an entire year, he or she is awarded Platinum Status. That's how someone can have Platinum or 4-Star Status before a full 108K miles has been reached.

Proration does not apply to Diamond Status. You actually have to put the miles on for Diamond Status.

So, Mr. Jones, you've been with Swift long enough to have earned Diamond or 5-Star Status.

    Why don't you have it?

Explanation for non-Swifties: these "Status" rankings are a quick way for planners to determine whether an individual can be trusted to make a load happen or not. It's also a sort of "reward" system to give better loads to better drivers. Rankings are given by mileage, safety and service. The Bronze through Diamond applies to company drivers, star count to independent contractors. The fourth and fifth level drivers (Gold-Diamond or 4-5 Star) get to ask for available loads and choose among three offerings if available.

Fewer than 1% of drivers on either side have reached Diamond or 5-Star status.

Let's see, 6 months is 180 days or one could say 90 days times 2. Check
No accidents or service failures (during the time I was PLAT) Check.
    108,000 miles. Check

You don't have to complete the 108,000 miles *then* become PLAT, you only have to be projected to produce that much mileage based on the extrapolation of miles you're rolling and producing every month on average.

then i stand corrected. i did not know the miles could be pro-rated...which is gay....because that dont mean jack, to me. so you run 3 months, and average 2500 mi? to me, that driver dont have the experience to be platinum. they dont have the experience i'd want (if i were a planner) to feel comfortable that driver knows what they're doing.

Injun, you know the requirement to get diamond?? you have to be Platinum for 12 consecutive quarters...or 3 yrs. Hmmmmmm....i've only been driving for 2 yrs...so even if i was free from service failures the entire time, i'd still not qualify.

    where is your diamond?

    I will never have Diamond.

    I'm not company.

And I'm not playing the "better than you" game like you are. I could give a &$*% less what you think of me or how I rate against you or anybody else. I am in competition with myself to continually improve my service, mileage, mpg, safety and knowledge.

If it's 12 quarters, then let's see where you are next year. I have not spent my entire career with Swift. I only came back in July of this year, so I have plenty of time to enjoy my 4-Star status before moving up.
