We are getting loaded with our first reefer load of frozen cakes, pies and pastries going cross country. Very little reefer training, just handed a incomplete printed off manual. Our question is, should we use start/stop mode or continuous mode? Our temp is at -10 while they are loading.
    Thanks

When in doubt always run continuous! Being that your running frozen pastries I would probably set the reefer to start stop as that stuff won't melt or go bad between temps. -10 is frozen so that trailer would have to get pretty hot for it to go bad.

Loading pre-frozen pastries, you can run start/stop. Your temp variable will be less than 5 degrees. No need to waste reefer fuel. That is if your unit is capable of easily maintaining -10.
Just make a habit of every time you stop and get out, check the temp, to ensure there are no problems. Should you develop a fault/problem, the product will maintain a frozen state for 4-6 hours if the doors are not opened.

The bills will often state what the shipper "wants" as far as mode. If not, at -10 I would err on the safe side and run continuous at current cross-country temps, but then again if I had a newer unit I would not be concerned with running on cycle-sentry, either. If some of the product just came off the line, it would be wise to run continuous for 6-10 hours to insure a consistent deep cold as the warmer product slowly comes into equilibrium with the set temp

frozen loads I always ran continuous, dident see the point in the reefer turning on and off all the time, imo its easier on the unit to keep it running
