I know this topic has been covered several times in general, but I’m looking to see if my plan will work. I’ve never used the split sleeper provision before...

    Start work
    Friday 1:45am

    Drive/deliver until
    Friday 10:30am

    Sleeper until
    Friday 1:30pm

    Deliver until
    Friday 2:30pm

    Sleeper until
    Friday 11:30pm

    Drive/deliver until
    Saturday 8:30am

What I am thinking is that eight hour block does not count towards my second 14 hours. So when I start up at 11:30 PM on Friday, I have 13 hours remaining to work because of that one hour block from 1:30 to 2:30 on Friday. Am I figuring this correct?

    Thank you in advance

You can't split it up like that, you have to have 8 hours straight to stop the clock, not 2 or 4.

    Start work
    Friday 1:45am

    Drive/deliver until
    Friday 10:30am

Did you budget for a 30 minute break in there? It exceeds the 8 hours since starting work/driving. It's OK if you don't drive past the 8 hour mark to not have had a 30 minute break.

    Sleeper until
    Friday 1:30pm

Why three hours? It's OK it meets and/or exceeds the two hour requirement but beware it cuts into your 14 for an additional hour. Also the 2 hour + portion can be off duty and/or sleeper just so you know.

    Deliver until
    Friday 2:30pm

Still within your original 14 hour clock so A-OK here.

    Sleeper until
    Friday 11:30pm

Nine hours in Sleeper is legit to pause the clock as it meets or exceeds the eight hour sleeper requirement to fulfill the Split Break Provision according to the green book.

    Drive/deliver until
    Saturday 8:30am

Also same problem as before, you have gone past 8 hours on duty possibly driving since your last period of 30 minutes of more off duty or sleeper here. That three hour break earlier along with the two potential mandatory 30 minute breaks severely cut into your available 14 hour clock. What you think you might have available might be up to two hours less than reality.

What I am thinking is that eight hour block does not count towards my second 14 hours. So when I start up at 11:30 PM on Friday, I have 13 hours remaining to work because of that one hour block from 1:30 to 2:30 on Friday. Am I figuring this correct?

I did consider my 30 minute breaks on both days, thank you.

I have to take a three hour break in the middle because I am in the fast food delivery business, and I finish with one customer at 1030 and can’t deliver to my next one until 130, after their lunch window. Even though they are literally 3 miles apart from each other

My main question is, I guess, when I wake up at 11:30 PM Friday night, how much of my 14 hour clock is available?

    According to this...
HOS Rules | Split Sleeper Berth
After I start up at 11:30 PM, I take the amount of time from the end of my three hour break until the start of my second break (in my case it is one hour) and subtract it from 14 hours. So when I wake up at 11:30 PM, I should have 13 hours to drive and work right?

Without graphing it out, off the top of my head it does look like you'd have 13 hours available on the 14 but 9 hours available to drive.

    Hatt91 Thanks this.

I wanted to amend my numbers. I think you're going to be looking close to 11 something hours on the 14 and 9 on the drive clock.

Husband always tries to have a 10 off in-between the 8/2 split just to not have to worry about the next run.
