I'm hauling hot asphalt to job sites.Have my quess a week left of training.I really like the company but will be so glad once I get my own trk and i'll tell you why.Drivers don't believe in stopping not even to go to the bathroom. So if I have to go too bad so sad I have to wait till I get to the site which could be as long as 2 hrs.Its go go go with them because they wanna get a 3rd round in which can be done but they have to take their brks at the job site, the ones that have a sleeper.I'd rather do 2 rounds which is roughly 12 hrs and call it a day.I get $16.00 an hour and time and a half after 40.I start anywhere between 3 and 5 am.Tomorrow it'll be 3:30.Going to learn how to pump asphalt tomorrow with a PTO in the trk.Last 2 days it was filling the tank.I need to focus on slowing down a lot sooner.I'm getting better but sometimes I forget im hauling liquid rather then van.My lane control is good.Trainer only had to slap me with the map 3 times today which was all done my first round going to the site, after that don't think he said anything or slap me,lolI stayed in the center and don't recall drifting once. When I fill the tank I don't have a problem but when I get to the job site I find the tank intimidating.I have to get on top and open the lid, which is called I think crows nest.Asphalt is like 380 degrees.Getting down is the worst. But that all comes with exp.I'll get better.Alot more to this job then I thought. But im liking it and more so the ppl are awesum. They are real strict on wearing your safety equipment especially on your probation period which is 90 days. You forget 1 time and that'll be your last.A guy who was here a month got fired yesterday for this reason.Whats so ironic is this guy worked at kb where I did and was let go there because he told the wrong yard guy off who just happen to be the boss. The first 2 days all I mainly did was observe.Today I actually worked and have the dirty clothes to prove it,lol.I'll will give u updates on my performance. From all you tanker guys and gals,I welcome any and all advice.

Guess reading isn't in your job description either is it,lol.I'm joking.Doing 3 full rounds cannot be done legally but 2 and a half can be done, drivers have to sleep at the job site. This company has nice Volvo's for those guys.I'll get a day cab. There will be times
'll have to stay a couple nights out but the company will provide a hotel.Hope I get a notice so I can bring my makeup and curling iron, lol. -
Thank you,i've been wanting something different. So tired of van and reefer.Company actually pays me for every second of my hos including that half hr brk.I'm going to be buying jeans this weekend and the company will reimburse me.Getting a different pair of boots. These clud hoppers are ugly and too heavy.

Congratulations... Is this first trucking job you have had that pays by the hour? I'm with you the 2 rounds in a day would be fine and dandy with me they can have the 3rd... 12 hour's a day is good enough when being paid hourly not to mention after 40 you get time and a half
keep us posted on your progressionpattyj Thanks this. -
way to go....take care and be safe.
