CNN reported the bonehead in the pickup flat out ran the stop sign. I hope Mr Garcia makes a full recovery. Unbelievable!

    Indiana (3) Speed.
    Ohio (6) Speed, stolen vehicle.
    Texas (5) Ran stop sign/distracted.
    California(?) ?
    Illinois (4) ?
That's 18 teens + the California crash in less than a week. Sad.

That's why I help at B.R.A.K.E.S., a teen driving school in Charlotte, NC. We try to teach teens to not be distracted and be better drivers so this won't keep happening. 6000 teens die a year because of car accidents.

We show this video at the start of every school.

Thankfully it has been quite a few years for our area. The last time I was the medic for the call.

Many teens today seem to have the acquired the notion that they are invincible, and that poor decision-making and poor attention skills are not a concern. And for an adult to try and impress upon them that their safety and life is THEIR ultimate responsibility seems to be a insult to their intelligence.

    I remember when I was 18, I knew I would live forever.

Now, I am not sure how long forever is.

I don't know. it seems kids today are allowed to skate through school .. they don't have to pass tests in order to pass to the next grade or graduate, if they fail, it is corrected and/or over-looked and this transfers to other aspects of their life. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe teens today are no different than teens 20-30-40 years ago and it's my POV that colors my opinion today, but I suspect that the modern liberal teaching philosophy that s becoming commonplace in today's public education system is affecting kids thought processes in ways we have not yet began to comprehend or accept yet.

When I was in school, kids were moved up just like they are now. There were kids in high school that should not have been.

More children are killed in auto accidents than by any other means but you don't see the feds doing anything about that... oh, wait,... that's not an amendment.
