Not to mention, how can truckers update Trucker's Path and say "some parking" is available when there's LOTS of parking?

I know it used to be that drivers that were shooting for a truckstop would update parking status as "lot is full" when they were an hour or more away. But TP put a stop to that. You can only update status if you are in close proximity now.

Wonder why I live by the DTA (Don't Trust Anyone) philosophy?
I know you're here for you. Because of that - me too.
    It's a #### shame.

When I know I'm going to be shutting down after 20:00 I use the last hour to go to every truck stop, rest area for available parking. Trucker path is a good tool cause I can look at a satellite view of the layout of a truck stop to see how many spots there are. There are always those key "go to" truck stops that always have parking that u find out only by experience. I always try to shift to a night schedule when I can, no traffic, open road, cities when u pass through looks like the zombie apocalypse has happened, no lines for fuel, and most rewarding is rolling into a truck stop of your choice at 0800 with 00:03 minutes left on 11 (elog) and it's wide open. Get to go inside with no lines for the crapperz or showers, WiFi strong cause not alot of guys are using it at that time.

Jeez people you making things to complicated.
IF YOU KNOW YOU WILL ARIVE LATE and you know parking might be hard to find just ***** pay 12-15 buks in advance for parking and forget about rest.
1st you NOT ALWAYS run to situation where you have to park after 22:00
2nd WHATS BETTER get your mirrors or hood broken by someone trying pass around you leaving you to delay to shipper, or bill for repair.
OR pay 12 -15 buks and take nice sleep right next to the store ?

What I do is take a couple pictures of the trucks on both sides of prior to going to bed. I had my front end torn off once. That was a ride in the sleeper for me. And a stumper to explain to the dispatcher why his load now is not going to get there.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

I hear ya on that, had a relay a few weeks back and knew that the relay driver to meet me wasn't gonna be there until in the middle of my break, I needed a full 10 to drive that night, Pilot was filling up bad, so I went in and bought 2 spaces due to this, my company reimburses parking on your next check anyways. They agreed when I QCommd them, I said hey you chose a winner of a place to do this relay, I said your going to have to pay two spots, 30 bucks....lol....on my next check, no questions asked. Relay driver had a spot n so did I. I always shoot for free first but if that won't work...plan B ,.Plan C, etc. I just wrote my truck# on one receipt n the relay driver on the other. You know how night dispatchers can be. ..you better plan ahead as they wont...lol

How do you now that those hit you and not swift driver who was trying to pull into hole after them , hit you, and left, or you waking up after every move near your truck?

I try not to get in the sleeper until I have been very helpful spotting drivers into parking spots next to me. At least half the risk is mitigated. I also try to park next to trucks that aren't training companies, but that isn't always a guarantee.

Don't park near exits or at the end of tight rows if you can help it.
