Food at Truck Stops - Some Questions

back whewn i was driving otr..i had a book title "exits" or something like that. lets you know whats available at the offramps.

 

You can find food thats bad for you and food thats good for you at any restaurant, it's all about knowing what to order. I do driveaways delivering new trucks so I can bring any food with me. My best advice is keep an eye out around you when you take your break. There's usually good places to eat at the same exit as the truck stops, you just might have to walk a half mile to a mile to get to them. I personally like doing this because the food is usually better and it costs less, plus I get some exersise for the day also. Like I said its mostly about what you order when you get there as far as healthy food goes. My favorite thing from Subway (what everyone says is a heathy place to eat) is a tuna sub with cheese and extra mayo-not very healthy. My favorite thing from Mcdonalds (what everyone says is an unhealthy place to eat) is a egg mcmuffin-if you look at the nutritional facts on them they are actually surprisinglly healthy.

 

I keep a 12v refrigerator and a microwave in the truck. That way when I need to i can stop at Walmart Supercenters or other grocery stores and stock up. Better food & not as expensive.

 

Tired of the subway replacing some sit down places! Started buying food at the grocery stores and just having my own, right portioned meals!

 

Do not eat off the petro buffet it is gross. usually guys who don't wasn't their hands after pooping eat off the buffet. Their are some exceptions like me I wash my hands after pooping but I don't want that poop on my hands. So I order from menu that way you got a better who of getting uncontaminated food. The salad bars pretty safe too cause usually guys that don't wash their hands aren't eating salad if you know what I'm getting at.
