Check out the big Indian River thread in the Favorite Company Forum if you haven't already:

    Indian River

That thread is a goldmine of food grade tanker discussion and also draws members from other companies, as well as members who have left Indian River to go to other companies. It will give you a lot of insight into food grade tanker and might help you decide if that's really what you want.

In the food-grade world they haul flour, sugar, salt, etc.

Outside of foodgrade, those trailers often haul cement, fly ash, lime, plastic, and black/smokeless powder.

Edit: Catalyst for oil refineries, and corn, also get hauled in pneumatics.

It's a tank but not liquid. Does it still require a tanker endorsement for some reason?

Thank you brother, yes I'm lucky to currently have a job, but for the most part, I have been denied by all the mentioned companies.

Foodliner said they didn't mean to have their training program advertised, as it's not currently open.

Tidewater Transport said they require a year

Indian River wanted 7-8 months in my area

    Oakley wanted a year

Only one I got a nibble on was Cliff Veismann, who said they'll contact me in about 2 weeks and let me know

    trucker-chase and homeskillet Thank this.

I had that exact same question back when I first started pulling one, and the answer is no, you do not have to have the tanker endorsement.

I see Quantix nearly every day at the customer I serve. For my customer, they haul and deliver plastic resin pellets to make water bottles. Not sure if they do other products. Also, they have a variety of tractors, so I'm not sure if they are 100% owner operator, a mix of company and OO, or all company.
