Aren't these Super Stores chains have OTR only position?

I did food service 30 years ago. It was the first job that I ever had that paid over a grand after taxes. Was it tough work? Not to me, because the job I had before was for a beer distributor. And I did roofing over the summer as a kid.

The cases of cheese and Coke syrup and 6/10 cans are heavy but it paid 3X what the beer did.

    "I still do but $2k a week is $2k a week LOL!! I"

You don't have to do food service to get that. If you work 45 weeks out of the year, that's 90k. I think that's close to average for a guy that works and isn't a welfare driver. A guy that does just the bare minimum to get by, he's only there to live in the truck... I call them welfare drivers. Those are the guys that jam up the fuel lanes.

If you are local or regional, I don't know. Walmart is regional. I hear they make 100k+ over there. When I drove for Crete, I helped Walmart through a holiday season and I had a lot of fun! I didn't mind making deliveries to those stores at all.

I got bribed an extra $1,200 to work this Thanksgiving week. So yeah, it's going to be a big one. Had Petro leftovers for Thanksgiving. Lol

Not trying to talk you out of food service... I'm just sayin

If you're doing it to get experience that's fine but keep in mind if you plan to go OTR using that experience you might have problems. Most OTR companies will ignore local work. Many OTR companies want OTR specific experience.

As far as food delivery goes it's frustrating ### busting work with long hours and pays well. If you move slow and take care of your body too you can stack up some cash. Youll be working 14 hours every day. Be very mindful of preventing injuries to yourself. Overuse injuries are conmon. Some are permanent.

Sysco load. I picked up preloaded containers from Fond du lac, that some poor schmuck in Dallas had to unload. I know, looks bad, but these drivers are paid hourly, I think, and you couldn't have a more secure job than Sysco. They handle everything. Besides, these guys don't work that hard, it's not steel coils, and it's actually a great job, if you can handle the physical part. Not too many fat axx food service drivers. Many times, it's back alleys, and coolers downstairs, but one thing for sure, you WILL get to know how to back in places. Generally, food service is a day job for the places you deliver to, and make friends, and who knows?
