When I was OTR, I had to move my truck once because of an emergency. I expressed my concern to the CHP and he gave me his business card in case anyone questioned it they could give him a call.
I don’t recall if I was on Elogs yet or not.

Usually, on elogs you can creep at under 5mph to avoid changing the duty status.

I’ve been around long enough now to understand the HOS and how it’s actually enforced. It’s really not, Unless you’re a habitual driver who goes over their hours every couple weeks or something. They can review your logs up to six months if they go to your carrier. Eight days on the truck. If they see you went over a half a dozen times in six months you can bet you’re going to get a citation. If it’s happened once or twice with an explanation, yes technically they could still write you a citation but they usually won’t. They don’t even care.
also, your dispatch, Or sometimes it’s the safety manager can add personal conveyance to your ELD. This does not start your clock again. Usually you can drive for up to 45 minutes without it affecting your break time.NavigatorWife, Trucker61016, Truckermania and 1 other person Thank this. -

You can log out/sign off if it comes to that. Then sign in after if you can’t do a pc/yard move or anything to prevent system from putting you on drive line.
Some eld s will ask you to verify that time. Say no and reject it. State reason why. Tell company.
Just another way to do itNavigatorWife, Six9GS, Hammer166 and 4 others Thank this. -
I already know the legality and technicality to this quick question but do any of y’all go off duty when you’re stuck in a traffic jam where you’re sitting for like 20 minutes at a time and not moving? I’ve never done it yet, but I can’t lie and say I haven’t been tempted to.
NavigatorWife and Trucker61016 Thank this. -

Now if it was simply slow I would be on duty (as I refused to fight the eld) and let the clock run.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
