Yeah, I understand that. I think they made a mistake with the small sleepers. How much more could it weigh for full size - a thousand pounds? If that.
My rig can take 53,500 lb of freight with full fuel and all my gear. Once, I had a 51K lb load. Almost never is it over 48k lb ...soooooo, that's why I say it is a mistake.

That said - and I almost said, "no thanks" for the same reason - until you live with it, you don't really know. It actually does not bother or inconvenience me. I still have enough room for everything I need (passenger seat deleted). If I were routinely staying out for two weeks or longer, I might feel different. Also, they do have full size trucks and you can (at least eventually) get one if you have a rider and if they want you and you insist, I think you could have one. For myself, I have already asked for many things from them and will be waiting before asking any further favors. In the mean time, I'm cool with it.

have never been to that Nucor. I am surprised CRST gets in, I have never seen a CRST truck at any of our core customers.
To be fair, even the "bottom feeders" have some "elite fleets" with good accounts and solid drivers. When I once say a CRST truck with a "3 Million Miler" decal, I just thought, "why?!". But even the bottom feeders have a good gig for you if you put in enough years.

 

What can I say? I can only report my own experience. My truck has no "opti idle" but maybe some do. My interventions increased my average pay from 1700/ week to 2200/ week. Maybe I was just lucky to be with one of the better teams. I have worked hard on myself to learn patience and diplomacy and assertiveness; I think that helped. I try to make the best of wherever I am at before giving up and the reason is, the conversations I have with other drivers who are doing better than me. When some others showed me their pay stubs, I asked, "How do I get to be you?!" I listened to their advice and went to work on the problem.

 

Some are also just skeptical - can't blame them for that.

 

Laughable? I think that is a great wage and i am grateful to get it. But because you think that is so low, what are you getting?
Not a cynical question at all. I know some are averaging upwards of $3k per week for similar work and I want to know where to get that! but i am brand new to flat beds and I would not give a good employer less than one year.

So, who is paying you so much that $2200 per week plus very good benefits is "laughable"?
