Just like roads have guardrails we now need protections in front of bridge supports in case dumbarse people take aim at bridges.

Let's hope there are no fatalities. It is a very strange story. Certain interested underwriters at Lloyd's are having a quite busy day, I'm sure, since they are likely to be on the hook to pay for a new bridge, a damaged ship, cargo loss, and personal injury claims.

News Nation just had a former Navy Seal who after the Navy piloted tanker ships. He is saying it looks like the ship lost power about 2 minutes prior to the impact. Just seconds before the impact, they got power back. They didn't have time to correct the action to avoid the impact.
He said proper procedure is to drop anchor when you have lost power. They probably did that but he said, even though, it takes miles to stop that ship. He said, on the face, it looks like the pilots did everything right. There was a mechanical failure, had no power... even lost lights... & of course had no control over the ship.
Maintenance records will be the focus in this case.Bud A., Bean Jr., Crusader66 and 16 others Thank this.
