Set for orientation next week. Hesitantly excited about this move. Freymiller seems to care about their drivers, and it'll sure be nice to drive something other than a Cascadia.
I enjoyed reading this thread (minus the personal attacks); it's been very informative and mostly positive. That's rare.
Hoping some of you guys are still around!

I'm still here. They're still running me. I'm grabbing a load in Waco, heading to Cali with it. Don't listen to the super truckers. They'll just steer you wrong!
Welcome to Freymiller. -
Hey thanks, Ssand Man! Glad to hear it! The only thing that had really given me pause was reading about 'multiple bankruptcies', but i could only find one and that was way back in '95. They seem pretty stable now, and y'all still seem to be running good... so I'm in and looking forward to it!
I can't really think of any questions that i haven't already found answers for, but I'm glad to see you're hangin in and runnin' hard!Ssand Man Thanks this. -
Welcome to the family. You should get a copy of Don's book at orientation, and I recommend you read it. The book explains a lot about him as well as how the company was founded and even goes over that bankruptcy you mentioned. Freymiller is a very good company and they will run you hard as long as you aren't the kind to BS around.
D LOOK Thanks this. -
Awesome! Miles are a good thing, and much needed right now. I was wondering if his book was still being handed out; I'm very curious about it lol.
I'm a tad nervous about the road test though. Backing is NOT my forte, and i haven't driven a manual in over a year. I am hoping the worst is that they'll decide i need more training and not that i don't qualify for the company. I've read a lot of great things about this company, and am seriously looking forward to being a part of the 'Freymiller Family'!
Thank you for the welcome!! -
Don't stress over the road test, it's pretty easy and they won't disqualify you for missing some gears or doing a few pull ups. They will have you backing at the flying J around the corner that has plenty of room to back. Most all of the trucks are manual, however, there are a few automatics. During your orientation, your class will take a tour around the terminal and you all will stop by Don's office. He a really cool dude and he'll offer you a copy and will sign it if you want.

Don't stress it... ha ha.
Does it count if i do a straight line back if the option is available??
-
Unfortunately, they will have you do a 45° but they'll try to use spots that have two or more open spaces.
-
I did my backing into a trailer spot at the yard.
Don't worry about the road test, or orientation. They are going to FLY you to OKC. They're in no hurry to send you home. This is a big boy company. A lot of drivers leave, because they don't know how to run.
As long as you SHOW them that you know how to run, they'll run you all you can handle. Manage YOUR hours of service. If you have to sit for as reset, then YOU messed up! I only do resets on home time! -
I backed at the flying j... and i passed my road test! aaand... i did my road test in a 17 Pete... my new truck. Maybe I'll actually get some sleep tonight, cuz the worst is over.
I came in a rental car actually...a Buick La Crosse, fully loaded with leather interior. Sweet ride! I feel spoiled lol.
The worst is over, and I'm so very glad because i really want to be a part of this company. I feel like I've come home.
Need sleep... be safe y'all!Jarhed1964 Thanks this.
