True, it does happen. Used to be pretty regular before the elog mandate to get a quick look at scale houses. I don't think they're legally supposed to, but noone with any sense is gonna sit there and argue and ask to get a full probing.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure an inspection must be performed in order for there to be an HOS citation issued.

If he put you "out of service" he did a level 3 inspection. That is for paperwork only. You will get csa points

They're not doing you a favor and they know it. A citation can be reduced by a judge and the PSP/CSA points can be appealed with a downgraded conviction.

But a warning with inspection sticks you with the points and no recourse to appeal ... you're hosed. They are not doing you a favor... they know exactly what they are doing.

Never ascribe to malice that which can be explained by stupidity.

Start looking for a new job. If your company has been issued a fine for your violations which they will see one of which is a warning for a handheld device while driving, they will terminate your contract yesterday.

Or lied too. Something doesn't smell right. Few months back my ELD was acting up when I got stopped for speeding, I was in an area with no cell service so it hadn't updated in 45 minutes, Trooper glanced at it, saw the "No Internet Connection" pop-up on the screen, laughed, and notated it on the Trucker Contact report "ELD not current, no cell/internet connectivity in area, approx. 45 minutes out of contact, otherwise no violations are apparent"
