There is no possible "gizmo" that will remediate a rununder accident when the car is travelling 75 mph and hits the rear of a stationary tractor trailer. Physics wins everytime.

I can understand wanting to improve technology for safety issues. I can understand wanting to save lives. Not every accident puts a trucker at fault. I think people need to be a little more objective sometimes.

This aired on PBS? So basically a bunch of 90 year olds watched it. It came up in my YouTube probably because of the algorithm but I have to wonder just how many people actually watched it.

A tractor trailer doesn't have to be stationary for someone to hit it in the rear. The original Mansfield bar legislation in 1968 was due to a 4 wheeler hitting a moving truck.
We’ve had 3 under ride accidents in this area so far this year on the I-35 corridor. Two cars and one motorcycle. All hit a truck in the rear moving at highway speeds.
Parking on the shoulders is not gonna cause the accident if everyone stays in the lanes but the difference in speeds between trucks and cars will if everyone stays in the lanes.
