I’m done with Napa fuel filters. Seems I have to replace 3 to 1, compared to the Fleetgaurd brand for my N14 and Donaldson for my series 60. At the same time I quit using them for oil and coolant filters. I know Cat encourages the use of their own filters for their engines. I’ve seen a few dissections of Cat filters and they’re without a doubt made better. What is y’all’s experience?

I used Fleetgard for the N14, use Napa for the S60. No problems.

Sure it’s not a fuel issue? How often are you having to change out?

I ruled out the fuel since I haven’t had to replace the Fleet Guard filter in 5 months and counting. Same fuel stops.

On my old Series 60 getting the OEM was a chore so Donaldson Blue, or Baldwin was always in stock & haven't had issue with either..

The FleetGuard LF14009NN is the upgrade oil filter the LF9009 that was on the M11 when I got it. Was a long wait to get it, Baldwin BD7309 was in stock so went with that.

Actually has 20 micron absolute, 5 micron nominal which is better than published 30/10 absolute/nominal of the Fleetguard so may just run with that if availability stays the way it is..

Wouldn't that indicate that the Napa filter was doing more filtering? Smaller micron filtering?

I have Cats and use Cat filters, and change as soon as I see any decrease in fuel pressure for what it's worth.

One would think but I’m of the belief that their filters were coming apart.

I'am a firm believer Cat oil & fuel filters & Rotella oil.& Howel's fuel treatment..
I'am sure somebody will call me stupid but that combination has always worked for me
