Well, my situation had nothing to do with fuel islands. It happened at my terminal. The person that cut the seal off was never found. The overriding point of my comment was that some places will reject a non-sealed load. With experience you kind of know when to get a seal. Some shippers won't seal a load. This is why carriers have their own. I always used one of mine and wrote the seal number on the bills.

I have a short fuse .. but I wouldn't think of messing with anybody's truck or trailer .. now the driver... thats a different story. But this is just another reason why I stay away from big truck stops.. my freight gets really impatient if they are waiting for me to fuel..If that was me I would of went in to the fuel desk had them page the driver if he wasn't stand right there trying to pay to his fuel I would of waited for him to show up at the desk and then it would be game on...

Secondly he was joking. Might want a little thicker skin.
Lastly. I agree that any driver who messes with another person's equipment. Should not be in this line of work. It's unprofessional AND could lead to serious harm.
Imagine that 5th wheel being pulled not dropping the trailer until the highway. Killing the people behind it.
Yet someone here "waited to see the show."Cowboyrich, MACK E-6, Bean Jr. and 3 others Thank this. -

Very rarely do I fuel up at the big chains, but this has been going on for quite some time and usually it can be chalked up to ones laziness or disregard for others by blocking a fuel island, but messing with ones truck seems just a bit too much. These days you can't really have an educating conversation with someone because it seems like most people are one magic word away from exploding, but I think I would try that before ever sabotaging ones equipment.

During my career I have seen tires sliced, CB antennas broke off, crap put in fuel tanks, reefers switched off, people using spray paint writing graffiti on trucks. I could go on but you get the point. Generally speaking though cutting a seal off is not hurting the driver as much as it is the carrier. Some finals are anal about these seals. I can't say I have actually seen it, but I have been told more than once a final would not accept a load, and the only way to fix it was to get the shipper to fix it. Then when you consider a huge portion of freight goes through a logistics company of some kind you can see what kind of a headache this can be for a carrier. The driver is never going to admit their ignorance got it spitefully removed.

What we really need are seals that can’t be broken!
Tb0n3 and bryan21384 Thank this.
