My current load with tandems all the way forward scaled at the following weights.
Fuel- 5/8
Steers- 11480
Drives- exactly 34,000
My 5th wheel is fixed but I was always under the impression that anything forward of the 5th wheel doesnt add weight to the drives but to the steers similar to how center of gravity works in a plane. My question is should I just fill up to 5/8s or just simply fill up?
Fueling when heavy, will it add weight to the drives?

You’ll add to both.
We were told. Full tanks is worth 1,700 pounds.
If you have an APU. Most states have a 400 pound allowance for it.Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -

Whatever weight you put on tractor is more or less on both the drives and steers very close to or at 50/50 This includes people and stuff in the cab as well.
rabbiporkchop and scottied67 Thank this. -
I would buy the cheap fuel just enough so I am at about 5/8 when I cross the next scale.
Or if I know they will be closed when I get there I'll fill up on the cheap stuff.
Know your equipment, fuel economy, where the scales are, and state weight limits. A quick example is 36k for Colorado and Wyoming. Knowledge is power.x1Heavy, rabbiporkchop, 88 Alpha and 3 others Thank this. -
had a volvo fuel went 50/50 ..... have a cascadia and its 90% to the drives ..... sometimes you have to be creative fueling like after the scales you can figure out how much fuel you use before you get to next scale ..... its more of a pain if your company gives you fuel stop ..... do your own planning and they can change the fuel stops to whatever you need. .... most scales you roll across are set to ding inside at 35 k or over before they pull you in but I wouldn't go in with much more than 34k ....... get your scale ticket before you fuel so it looks legal then fill up and run around the scales ..... dont take the obvious route around the scales take another route and have your story ready if you get pulled over .... like visiting an old army buddy or girlfriend and if you have a legal scale ticket they will let you go 99% of the time . should be able to squeeze a couple of hundred dollars from your company for your inconvenience ..... or run at night in most states

My cascadia puts all the fuel on the drives.. If ur at 34000, better think twice about it.. Or be able to move some weight from the drives to the trailer
