If your truck radio doesn't come XM capable, you'll need that auxillary jack to connect to an external XM/Sirius satellite reciever. I bought one of these at a T/A (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_070XDM6350/Dual-XDM6350.html?search=dual+car+stereo), it has both the aux jack and a USB port. Great for using an i-pod or thumb drive through the radio.
Wish I would have seen the price at Crutchfield before I paid about $115 for it at T/A!

    scottied67 Thanks this.

I have the Sirius radio which I bought way back in 2005. It uses FM transmitter to send the signal to the radio. I just have to first tune the stereo a very staticky station then tune the satellite radio to the same frequency. Back in 2005 I could set it like that for hundreds of miles. Now the FM dial is almost full up and it is often difficult to find a nonused station. The Auxiliary Input is a lifesaver.

actually he is right for a change. i LOVE the AUX on my stero. I run my laptop thru it, which has my GPS, and it has my iTunes. I have the music set at a level that i can hear the GPS lady say, "Oooooh baby....you wanna make a HARD right-hand turn onto Chestnut...." :biggrin_25512:

Is there a truck version of the Streets and Trips or do you guys just run the regular version? Also, do you have to have an internet connection for it to work?

there is no truck version, but you can download poi files with truckstops, scales, weigh stations and rest areas, walmarts, costcos, low bridges, etc. except for downloading said files, an internet connection is not required to use the program.

Junk Had one that lasted about 45 days and quit cooling and ruined a cooler full of food. I now have the Igloo and it freezes stuff if you're not careful

I must have got a good one then. I did like Rug did and got the Coleman from Walmart for $88...5 months ago and it still works great. Keeps my stuff plenty cold. If I set the tray next to the cooling fan, it will freeze my sodas. Granted, it's no refridgerator, but it works fine for me.
